An invigilation centre is where pupils will complete their Pre-Tests assessments.
An invigilation centre for the ISEB Pre-Tests could be:
– Current school: a UK prep school, maintained primary or junior school or international prep or junior school
– Senior School: if the pupil is sitting the test at one of the schools to which they have applied
– Non-school Venue: an approved educational or governmental independent exam venue, known as a ‘non-school venue’, such as a British Council
All invigilation centres will use their admin portal to organise, administer and coordinate tests for their venue.

Parents/guardians can continue to complete other sections of the Guardian Portal, save their progress and return to their account when they have the information they need.
In the first instance, parents/guardians are advised that their child’s current school is the best place for them to sit their tests. If they cannot be accommodated at their current school, ISEB recommends that parents/guardians contact the senior schools to which they are applying to see if the tests can be sat with them or if other arrangements need to be made.
If the pupil can not take the tests at either their current or prospective school, then an approved independent third-party educational or governmental invigilation centre can be found.
Many senior schools that use the Pre-Tests for admissions work with a number of third-party educational and governmental organisations that are approved to act as an invigilation centre. Parents and guardians should contact their child’s prospective senior school to find out if there are any existing approved third-party invigilation centres they can use. Alternatively, or for additional support, parents and guardians can contact ISEB for help sourcing an approved non-school venue invigilation centre.
Once the parent/guardian has confirmed their invigilation centre, they can log into the Guardian Portal, select the venue from the drop-down menu, and submit their child’s Applicant Profile.
New school, educational or governmental test venues in the UK and internationally can submit a request to act as an invigilation centre for the ISEB Pre-Tests by completing this online form.
All new non-school invigilation centres will need to agree to ISEB’s terms and conditions and receive written confirmation from each of the candidates’ prospective senior schools confirming their venue and staff can act as an invigilation centre for the school and candidate/s.
Once completed, a Qualifications & Delivery Team member at ISEB will review the information provided in the form and confirm the status of the test venue for the 2024-25 Pre-Tests session.

Yes, if you only want them to sit at the senior school then just create a Senior School Invigilation Centre account.
Yes, you will need an account for your Senior School Portal (where you will view the applicant records and results) and your Invigilation Centre Portal (so that you can manage the administration of the tests for those wishing to sit the exam at the senior school).
You will need two separate Invigilation Centre Portal accounts if you are expecting internal students to sit at the prep school, and another one for the senior school for external students.
ISEB recommends that the name of your two Invigilation Centres be made as clear as possible for parents when you register for an account, eg XXXXX SENIOR School XXXXX PREP School
This field will appear as written by you to parents in the drop down list.
The Invigilation Centre registration form is a proactive form, any one not wishing to host will simply not complete the form.
