Our German syllabus aims to help pupils develop the skills to understand the written and spoken language and use the language effectively across a broad range of linguistic activities while encouraging positive attitudes towards the use of foreign languages and towards speakers of foreign languages.
Candidates may use a standard English-German dictionary during the preparation period for speaking exams only. Candidates whose first language is not English may have access to a bilingual translation dictionary, but not in the target language (German).

German for CE at 13+
Candidates taking CE German at 13+ will sit three papers, in speaking, listening, and reading and writing. Our German specification is designed to be accessible and encouraging to learners of all abilities, so there are no distinct levels in the CE German exam.
